FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How are services paid?

Services are available at no cost to eligible Medi-Cal Managed Care Members of Gold Coast Managed Care and Kaiser Permanente, as well as Tri-Counties Regional Center clients.

 

A Private Pay option is also available for those that may not have the insurance listed above.

How long can my loved one stay at the center each day?
Our hours of operation are 8:30-2:00, although if a participant is getting picked up/dropped off by a family member they can get dropped off as early as 7:30 and picked up as late as 3:00.

What if my loved doesn’t want to participate in part of the program?
We always encourage each participant to follow the treatment and activity plan our team has designed specifically for them, but we respect each individual’s choice, as well as understand different comfort levels.  If there is something you are uncomfortable doing, please inform our staff members and we will make sure to accommodate your request.

 

Do you provide transportation to other places besides to and from the center?
We are unable to provide transportation during our core hours (8:30-2:00), but often we are able to drop a participant off at the place of their choice during the afternoon trip.

 

Where do you go for outings?
We go to a variety of places including, but not limited to: Walmart, $.99 store, Island Pacific Market, Vallarta’s, various museums and botanical gardens.

How many days does my loved one need to enroll?
After your loved one goes through our 3-day assessment period, we hold an interdisciplinary team meeting to discuss what amount of days would be appropriate for the person, as well as what works for the family/caregiver.  Attendance ranges from 1-5 days a week.

 

Can I drop off my loved one only when I need a break?

We are a treatment-based facility and have care plans created for each of our participants, therefore we usually need a consistent schedule to ensure your loved one is having all of their needs met.  If a family/caregiver would like to pay for daily services, rather than enroll through their insurance, we may be available to provide respite services.

Are there support groups available for caregivers?

We do not currently have support groups available, but we are actively working towards creating a schedule! Check back soon!

My loved one does not speak English.  Can s/he still attend?
Yes!!! More than half of our staff is bilingual and we always have translation services available.  Most of our activities are held in both Spanish and Tagalog, as well as English.

What do participants do during the day at VCADHC?
 

A typical day for a participant at VCADHC may look like this:

  • 8:30 arrive at center and have breakfast: turkey sausage, eggs, toast, as well as coffee, milk, or tea

  • 9:30  check in with the nursing department to get blood sugar/blood pressure checked.

  • 10:00 Karaoke or dance class

  • 11:00 Relaxation therapy (massage chairs, aromatherapy, music)

  • 11:30 Bingo or Loteria

  • 12:00 Lunch: Teriyaki Ck, rice, salad, and pineapple

  • 1:00 Trivia with staff

  • 1:30 Load vehicles to transport home
